The XVT Consortium

Take control. Join the XVT Consortium and gain a high level of participation in product direction and development.

How do I get started?

  • Select the OS you want to work on
  • Purchase the source
  • Download the Consortium Software Assignment Agreement (each software mod/feature addition you want integrated into XVT must be accompanied by this agreement)
  • Download the XVT Coding Guidelines (in drafting, not yet available)
  • Send us an This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it saying you want to participate

What Then?

  • You will receive access to the private forum
  • You will receive access to our current roadmap
  • Participate in selecting new features and prioritizing them
  • Submit changes to the code (written following the XVT Coding Guidelines) for subsequent inclusion in future releases
  • Receive the latest source code before it is released to the public, including current changes made by all consortium members, with new feature documentation

Participation Levels

  1. XVT Sr Engineer - Regular contributor of solutions and improvements that are included in releases (three or more/year)
  2. XVT Engineer - Contributes one or two implemented solutions or improvements
  3. XVT Consortium Participant - Participate in product development forums and evaluation surveys and has a Current Source Code subscription

Benefits

  • When you need to modify the source, adding it back into the product allows you to upgrade to current releases, and not be left behind with what amounts to an isolated, private version
  • You get to have a hand in shaping the future of XVT
  • You can add features and functions that no one else is asking for, that would be low on our own development schedule
  • You have access to early releases
  • Design and Architect source code protection - Consortium members who contribute solutions and improvements will have free access to escrowed source code for design and architect products with a current subscription, in the event Providence were to go out of business

Of course, once you have the source code, you don't need to contribute to the ongoing development. You can simply make your own changes for your own needs and keep them to yourself. We want you to have the freedom to use XVT your way. We also want to recognize and promote to the XVT user community those who contribute code so that all can benefit.
